Increase Your Happiness Now

As you awake you find yourself wishing you could pull the covers up over your head and hide. You are not ready to face another day filled with struggles, complications and challenges. You’re constantly worried, stressed and in fear about what is currently happening (or not happening) in your life and with your friends and family.

Mentally, you begin to solve problems…both your own and those you care about. Your mind begins to wonder down a rabbit hole towards until suddenly your mind is filled with negative thoughts, confusion and indecision. You’re frustrated but you know you have to pull up your bootstraps and put on a happy face. So you do it.

You do your best to pretend that everything is okay. You try not to worry about all the things that are going wrong in your life and in the world, but deep down you feel like you are drowning and fighting for air. You feel trapped with no light at the end of the tunnel. Every step forward feels like three steps back. You feel like no one understands you, leaving you isolated, alone and unsupported.

Many women strive every day to meet the expectations that have been placed upon them. Afraid of appearing weak, she puts on a mask for the world pretending that everything in her life is wonderful. But within she struggles daily with anxiety and depression. She holds on to the past and clings to the future unable to fully enjoy the moment. True happiness seems out of reach.

When the turmoil of life overtakes you, here are a few simple steps to increase your happiness now.

  1. Take a walk in nature. Getting outside with Earth’s natural beauty helps you clear your mind of mental thought patterns and brings a new perspective to your day.

  2. Ask the question “How can it get better than this?” Then step back and stop trying to figure it out. Allow the answers and guidance to be shown to you.

  3. Do something just for you. Women spend more time taking care of everyone around them than they do on self-care. What do you need right now? Go do it.

  4. Be grateful. Writing in a gratitude journal about not only the things you are grateful for, but also WHY you are grateful for them begins to change what you have into more than enough.
