How to create more Joy

“Sometimes the most wonderful aspects of our lives can be the most terrifying—and that is okay, no one ever said greatness and easiness were one and the same. The thing we all have to remember, though, is that if it doesn’t scare us even a little bit, then it lacks the ability to be that once in a lifetime opportunity to change our lives for the better.Nothing amazing ever comes from us staying in our comfort zones.
This is about opening our eyes to what is right in front of us—and knowing that some chances don’t come around every day.” via Kate Rose Elephant Journal
I’ve spent most of my life playing small – in a box so to speak. Longing for adventure and exploration – craving change, yet fearing it as well. So I did nothing. I dreamt of far away places, of what my life could look like, imagining if only I had the money….. If only I could get away from my business….. If only my kids were grown up…. If only. I made excuse after excuse believing that if it was meant to happen it would – without much effort on my part.
For years I spent my days doing the same ol’ thing without anything ever changing. My excuses were based in fear. Fear of not being accepted, fear of not having enough, fear of not being safe. You name it, I probably had a fear of it in some capacity or another – even though I didn’t readily admit that fear was stopping me – or even acknowledge it’s existence. But it did.
It stopped me from fully living my life.
It stopped me from experiencing incredible relationships and connections.
It stopped me from true joy and happiness.
It stopped me from my truth.
I’ll be honest. Even a few weeks ago as I was traveling on my own to Hawaii for a retreat preparing to dive into the deep blue wide open ocean to learn how to snorkel the first time and swim with the Dolphins I was terrified. In fact, I secretly hoped I would have more “time” to prepare myself. As I was sitting on the edge of the boat with my flippers and snorkel mask on I was nearly petrfied of jumping in. Afraid of what I’m not really sure – afraid of drowning, of not being able to succeed at it, of not feeling safe, along with a few others mixed in there. But with support and encouragement I moved past the fear and did it anyway.
I stretched my comfort zone.
And I’ll be honest it was one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. Over 35 dolphins and babies surrounded our group greeting us, embracing us, sharing with us. I am still in awe of that and full of total gratitud for the experience. In that moment I was able to surrender to a new truth within me that has been carried forward in a powerful way.
Let me ask you… are you simply comfortable in your life?
Do you find yourself desiring change, yet no matter what you do you find yourself living the same old boring life where nothing REALLY changes?
Do you find yourself waking up and doing the same thing over and over again? Dreaming of something bigger – something more – something better? Hoping that one day you’ll reach that life you’ve been imagining?
Wishing you could smile more? Enjoy life more?
Take a moment and look at what you desire.
What is one thing you can do every day for 3 days to stretch your comfort zone just a little bit and say YES to you?
Would you like more support in discovering your truth, and start fully living your life from a place of joy and freedom?
Then Soul Therapy may be for you.
