Gratitude is a game changer. And here’s why.
People are bombarded with intense and painful emotions. Negativity, judgments, hurtful words and energy are being expressed radically on social media, in the news and daily life. Fears, sadness, worry, anger and a heap of other emotions flood our society. It’s hard not to become engrossed in all the things that are wrong in the world, with life, with relationships, with money, with health and everything in between.
The problem doesn’t lie in being aware in what is showing up. Because we NEED to be aware, but when we are more focused on the lack, the pain, the limitations or the fears then these energies grow. This leads to more anxiety, depression, stressed out and overwhelmed or can leave us completely detached from the emotional body aka feeling numb and disconnected.
This stops you from experiencing happiness. I’m speaking of a true happiness that radiates out into the world and touches every one you meet.
When you tap into the power of gratitude, your life suddenly expands. Colors seem brighter. People seem friendlier. Life in general is filled with synchronicities. You’re able to receive more. Positivity and the good in life is amplified. You experience a sense of freedom, relationship with everything around you and presence. Ultimately? You’re much happier.
Now, there is a bit of a secret to practicing gratitude in a way that is going to expand your life exponentially in a positive way.
It’s all in the FEELING and being PRESENT with the gratitude.
Sure, you can grab a notebook and write down a bunch of things you’re grateful for. But nothing’s really going to change within you or in your outer world because you haven’t tapped into your why.
Doing a practice that doesn’t have emotion behind it or is only saved for the “big” things in life will not allow you to grow and expand beyond your current reality in the way it’s intended.
To experience gratitude as a game changer in your life you must feel it through each and every cell …even if it’s just for a few moments.
The best way to do this is to take a few deep breaths, look around you and ask “What are you grateful for? WHY are you grateful for it?” This means digging deep, what does it add to your life? What would your life be without it?
It doesn’t have to be a grandiose thing or event. It can be the small things, people and places that bless us and support us in our everyday living.
Take for instance water. Have you ever thought about how it purifies and cleanses your physical body and heals your emotional body every time you take a shower? Or how it nourishes each and every cell of your body when you drink it?
How about your home that keeps you sheltered from the weather? With the heat to keep your body warm during the chilly winters? And the electricity that allows you to turn on a computer, read at night, or watch your favorite TV show?
Think about your vehicle and how it supports you in getting from point A to point B. Or the clothes you put on today that allow you to express your personality and share a bit of your authenticity.
How about your body? The ability to hold a phone, see the sunset, feel your feet in the dirt, having legs and knees that support you in walking, a heart that continues to beat, lungs to breathe air in and out keeping you alive, a voice to speak your truth?
How about the people in your life? Even if they are challenging, even if you have differences of opinions, even if you are stressed over their behaviors or actions. Pause, and look. What do you love about them? What lights you up and adds to your life? What are they teaching you? What is their gift to the world and you? They are each having their own experience, but you can still be grateful for them and their choices - fully.
Each and every thing is sacred. There is nothing too small or too great to be grateful for. Everything is changing. What may be here today, may not be here tomorrow. If you were to wake up tomorrow with only the things you were grateful for today, what would your life look like?
Again, here are the keys that will take your gratitude practice to another level.
(Placing your hand on your heart and feeling the vibrational frequency the heart radiates can help.)
Over the next 7 days, I invite you into a space of experiencing gratitude in a whole new way.
Blessings abound from this state.
Have you sacrificed yourself in order to make others more comfortable or happy?
Have you given up pieces of yourself making yourself less important, molding into what is needed or expected by those around you? (Sometimes without even realizing you’re doing it?)
Do you find you continue to put off the things that feed and nourish your soul for one reason or another? Maybe you tell yourself that you’ll get to it someday , it’s just not the right time yet; or you make your hopes and dreams silly and unimportant; or you say you don’t know how to accomplish it so you stay in the small but comfortable box that’s been built around you; or you think it’s just not meant to be so you stop listening to the guidance; or you procrastinate with distractions because other things are more important.
You pretend that everything’s okay. You tell yourself you don’t NEED (fill in the blank). You do your best to look on the bright side. And all in all you think you SHOULD be happy.
But when you really get down to the truth and get really honest, you’re unhappy.
Something is missing.
You’re tired of taking care of everyone else, the obligations and responsibilities.
You’re exhausted, drained and frustrated.
You’re bored, anxious and depressed with day to day living and can’t wait for someday. Someday when things get better. Someday when you can (fill in the blank).
You long to be loved, nurtured and supported.
You desire passion, purpose and connection.
You crave freedom, happiness and expansion.
You yearn to feel fulfilled, know yourself intimately and to live your truth. Every single day.
Deep down you need change. You know this.
But you have no idea how to obtain it, or even what it looks like.
And you may even be a little scared. Scared of what change actually will look like. Scared of who and what you have to leave behind. Scared of what you will have to step into.
The first step is to be honest with yourself and recognize what you are really feeling. Because too often we hide from our emotions and our truth.
The reality is, we don’t give ourselves permission to say YES to us.
Instead, ideas of how we “should” be have been passed down by society, religion, cultures and throughout our generational line keeping us stuck in fear, limitation and the need for outside approval. Our lives are being controlled by doubts, uncertainty, fears and what we believe is expected of us. When we allow this to win, we say no to our true callings, our true voice, our true way of being in the world. Not honoring or nourishing your soul leads to shrinking, giving your power away, confusion, depression, constriction, weight gain, and feelings of lack, limitations and unhappiness.
Limiting yourself because of relationships, fears, the way it always has been or the uncertainties is no longer okay anymore. You did not come to this beautiful planet to suffer or to live your life based on other people’s ideals, judgments or expectations. You came here to fully live your life. Your way. It’s time to reclaim that. Because you matter. Your happiness matters.
Only one thing is needed to reconnect to your soul’s wisdom, begin choosing happiness and living your truth.
Give yourself permission to say YES to YOU.
It’s the single most loving thing you can do.
To apply this in your daily life, simply choose one thing each day that is something YOU WANT to do, something you enjoy, something that fills you up, and DO it.
I’d love to hear all the places you've not allowed yourself to say YES. Email me what insights you've gained about yourself and what stops you from living the life your Soul is craving.

Are you yearning to make changes in your life, but struggle with bringing them into fruition?
Have you ever found yourself saying, “It’s just not meant to be”, or “I can’t do (fill in the blank with your desire) because (fill in reason a.k.a excuse of why not)”?
So you don't follow through, you procrastinate or you occupy yourself with distractions keeping you busy, but not actually making progress.
The choices you make today affect your tomorrow and your future. In truth, you are only one decision away from completely changing your life. When you become aware of what is really going on around you, conscious choice becomes available and sets you free.
Years ago I struggled with a crippling mindset that kept me stuck, depressed and fearful. You see, I felt that I didn’t have any choice….about anything. On some level, I believed that everything in my life was laid out for me. I thought I HAD to make decisions based on everyone else’s perceptions, ideas and what made them comfortable. I believed doing things out of the box was wrong and I would be judged or punished for it. So I stuck with what I "thought" was safe by doing what I "should" do.
Even though I thought I was choosing, I really wasn't choosing from a state of consciousness, let alone awareness. And certainly not from a place of empowerment, freedom or self-love. It was more of a habit, unconsciously doing the same thing over and over again, keeping me stuck in limitations and unhappiness.
It can be easy to get caught up in feeling like you don't have the power to change anything. Believing that this is just the way it is; what you truly desire will never happen and doubting every ounce of your own abilities. So you continue to do things exactly the way you always have, leaving you frustrated, stuck and depressed. Which spirals into disbelief in self, unfulfillment and confusion.
The thing is, you DO have the power to change your life. You've just been stuck in the illusion of what has already been set up for you. You've been locked in the same routine for so long you don't necessarily know what you are choosing. It's called a conditioned state. And much of the population suffers from it.
Let me tell you, all those years I felt I didn’t have choice…Nothing changed. Not really. I struggled. I resisted. I swam upstream without ever getting anywhere. I felt like I had been in a losing battle for years. I was exhausted. Nothing ever seemed to move into alignment – ever.
When I was in this state, t I didn’t really believe that anything could change BECAUSE of my choices. Boy was I wrong.
Everything is a choice.
Every single thing you do or don’t do; say or don’t say is a choice that you are making in the moment.
Each of those choices nourishes your soul and aligns with your values or it takes away from your dreams and leaves you emotionally pained or in a constant loop of mental chatter.
Once you begin to recognize exactly what you are choosing, you suddenly have the freedom to choose something else. It's empowering! And opens up new doors of possibility.
To begin understanding the choices you are making, why and if they are really feeding your soul set aside some time to really become aware of what you are choosing and why. An entire day is hugely beneficial, but if you only do this for a few hours you will amazed by what you learn about yourself, how you are responding or reacting to the world and people around you and will begin to unplug from the matrix.
Here's a simply exercise. You can simply state to yourself or get a journal and write it all down. (Highly recommended!)
Obviously you're choices and why's will be very different and true to who you are, what you believe, generational imprints, cultural, religious and society's conditions as well as your own personal life and values.
Becoming aware of what choices we ARE making in life and WHY we are making them, then allows you to make choices based in self love and freedom. Setting you free to live the life your Soul is craving!
Let me know what insights you've gained from this exercise. I'd love to hear from you!
Are you in a rut that you can’t get out? Do you find yourself overwhelmed with a heaviness that lingers around you? Much of the time we get so caught up in the mundane, obligations, and responsibilities around us that we begin to lose sight of the big picture. We get stuck in the motions of our day to day life, slowly being overcome with feeling depleted, depressed, angry, sad, and a mix of other emotions and self critical thoughts and judgements.
In a desperate need to feel better, we distract ourselves with things such as social media, television, video games, etc. We can find ourselves constantly thinking of the past; looking back on when life was good; when we had something better, staying stuck in that loss. Or we focus all our thoughts towards the future believing that one day when we have “that” then everything will fall into place and we will live happily ever after. (This can show up in dreaming about a new relationship, a new home, living your purpose, a promotion, when the money is stable, the kids are gone, you don't have a particular family responsibility anymore, or your health is better - pretty much anything that you think will fix you and your current circumstance.)
The truth is, we create from the Present Moment. Staying stuck in the past, jumping to the future or numbing the pain leaves us always wishing for and wanting more .Yet never feeling satisfied or fulfilled.
Living in the present is the only way you can truly be happy. When we focus on what is right in front of us, that moment, that person, that situation, that place or thing suddenly becomes sacred. Accepting it, exactly as it is, without judgement, without making it right or wrong, it becomes perfect and beautiful in all its own glory.
When you live in the present, you can experience the sacredness in absolutely everything. It expands your vibrational field, it puts things into perspective and it fills you with gratitude and a sense of being connected to everything.
Yet our minds are too busy to acknowledge and see the unique and extraordinary. Think about your experience of your day to day life. How present are you during your daily activities? Take for example simple things like washing the dishes, driving or having a conversation with someone. What thoughts roll through your mind? What emotions get stirred up? Where do you find yourself wishing you were?
One key factor in becoming present is realizing that each and every moment is sacred. Every one. Think about this for a moment, you will never experience the same thing twice. Ever. Each and every moment is different; never to be experienced the same way by you or anyone else.
Imagine being out in nature three days in a row at the same time. Say you even are standing in the same spot in a park. One day may be cloudy, while another you notice how the light reflects off the playground equipment. The people that pass you by on each day are going to be different then the day before. How they interact or don't interact with you will be unique depending on what is going on through their minds and emotions. The trees branches and leaves move in new directions based on the wind. Little animals and insects may catch your attention one day, but not be there another day. What you observe will be unique every single day - even though you're in the same spot at the same time.
A simple exercise to shift your vibration and become present is to focus on your breath. Imagine your mind dropping into your heart and breath in and out of your heart space. When you find yourself distracted, bring your attention back to your heart and interact with the world from here with child like wonder and curiosity.
Do you desire change in your life?
Most people do. There's an unsettling feeling telling you that something is missing. Wishing you had more of one thing, or less of another. You may not even know what's missing, but feel the longing for something different. Believing that once this gap is filled, happiness will permeate every ounce of your being. Then everything will be perfect.
Or so we believe.
So the search for the magic pill continues. The one that will set you free. Free from the pain being experienced, free from the limitations and blocks, free to have the life you dream of, free to be happy.
But it eludes you. No matter what you try, nothing works. You continue to run up against the same problems over and over again.
Truth be told, there is only one thing that stops you from having the change you desire.
Yes, you read that right.
Your mind tells you all the reasons why you can't have it. It resists the changes you know you must make on a consistent basis to have the transformation you are seeking.
It sabotages. It limits. It keeps you stuck.
Stay with me. Let's do an exercise.
A favorite quote by Thich Nhat Hanh says, “If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the continuation of each of these people.”
Those words speak deeply to me. Everything our ancestors have experienced is still alive in this moment and is present within our bodies.
The struggle, the sacrifice, the trauma our ancestors experienced is stored within your genetic lineage and continues to influence your physical, emotional, mental behavior, beliefs and patterns. They are waiting to be free from the pain and suffering; ready to share their story; offer wisdom, guidance, support and healing to their lineage. We have a responsibility to them, to ourselves and to our future generations to honor them; to respect them and to release the densities of the past ancestral trauma stored within our bloodline.
During this sacred time of year, the veil between the world drops, allowing us the opportunity to honor and connect with our ancestors in a deeply loving and compassionate way. I invite you to engage into a space of listening, of remembering, and of appreciation for your ancestors.
Here are a few simple things you can do to honor you own ancestors, not only during this time of year, but on a continuous basis:
Professionally trained and certified Generational Healer™ Crystal Rasmussen now offers both demonstrations and private sessions to support you in releasing the densities of your past ancestral trauma stored within your genetic linage to heal you today.
Each individual that has received a Generational Healing™ session has been blown away by the work itself, the transformation that takes place within their lives and the difference in how they feel. It is one of the highest forms of honoring we can do for our ancestors.
Benefits clients have expressed following a session include:
As an introvert I spend a lot of time reflecting inward. Diving deep into the shadows that still haunt me. Much of my life I stayed hidden, in a cocoon dreaming of someday flying through the realms exploring the depth, beauty and truth in the world. I yearned to experience life fully, to have deeply intimate relationships, to awaken my gifts and know my purpose. I longed to be free. Yet I was scared.
Terrified to be exact.
Fear, worry, doubt, and unworthiness controlled my life. Every single aspect. I made excuses for it. I bought the beliefs, illusions and conditions from society, family, religion and the negative self-talk that constantly played loops over and over in my mind.
Phrases like “I can’t”, “No one will understand”, “I won’t fit in” emanated from my energetic field. As these words reflected back to me my wounds they proved to me it wasn’t safe….that I wasn’t safe. I believed the only way for me to be safe was to continue down the same road I was on.
Don’t get me wrong, I wanted change. I craved change. Yet I was only willing to allow myself a small amount at a time. I would dip my toe in to see how much it would upset my world. Knowing I could pull back at any moment. I refused to commit to myself – to what my SOUL desired and gently communicated with me.
To pretend I was doing all I could, I enrolled in classes, worked with healers and coaches and told myself I was focused on fixing “this or that”. But nothing changed. Not really.
At least not until I fully committed to myself.
I recognized I was showing up fearful. Full of anxiety, pushing what I desired the most away. I found myself quickly retreating into hiding to seek the comfort and safety I didn’t feel existed. I was engaging in unhealthy relationship dynamics that brought chaos, anger and a desperate need to control life in general. I wasn’t happy or filled with love and I certainly wasn’t representing freedom or fully living my truth. Which were the few things I felt were priorities in my life.
Suddenly it hit me. My life is my message to the world.
Who I was being…without me even realizing it... was what I was sharing in the world. I was out of integrity. I was inauthentic. I was giving off vibes that I didn’t want to give off. I was lying to myself. I was telling my kids and those around me one thing, yet showing them something very different. The way I showed up in each and every moment determined what I was creating. And I was not creating what I desired. Heck, much of the time I wasn't okay with who I was being and how I was showing up, but I was so caught up in my mind chaos I was unable to see clearly.
That moment triggered a clarity that stuck with me and continues as a reminder. It reveals itself during times when I’m not showing up in a way my soul desires. When the awareness hits home I'm able to re-evaluate what is important to me and who I want to be in the world.
Maybe my story reminds you a little bit about you?
Maybe you have dreams of being free from the pain and suffering you are currently feeling? Maybe you crave something more, something different in life? Maybe you hear the small gentle voice of your Soul guiding you, but you aren’t sure how to listen? Maybe you want to share a big message with the world but what is currently happening in your life is stopping you from doing so?
I'm going to share with you.
Your life is your message to the world.
How you show up every single day determines what your future will be. It is proven over and over again that the change you seek resides in the choices you make now.
We are always emitting signals to the universe…whether we are conscious of them or not they are creating our life. It’s the message we are sharing in the world.
Pause for a moment. Take a deep breath in. Imagine yourself floating to a space where you can gain a clearer perspective. Now look at your life as an observer. What do you see? Feel? Hear? Sense? Who are you being? How are you showing up? How committed are you to what you say you really want? What are you doing daily to bring it into your reality? What do you like? And what don’t you?
Once you have observed your life from an outside perspective take a few deep breaths and return to your body and the present moment. Feel your feet on the floor. Feel your legs, your hips, your stomach, chest, throat, shoulders, arms, hands and head.
What did you become aware of?
It’s easy to get caught up and distracted in the mundane day to day tasks. The responsibilities. The obligations. The mind chatter. The fear. The doubt. The worry. The chaos. The emotional upheaval. When this happens we lose sight of what is important to us. We forget what our Soul really is craving. And even though we SAY or PRETEND that we are showing up, we might not always be showing up in the way we think we are.
I encourage you to reflect on what you received as an observer of your life and ask yourself these questions.
I’d love to hear about your experience. Email me what you’ve received during the meditation and what you received during the reflection exercise.

Do you struggle with speaking your truth from your heart space? Do you find yourself stuffing down your feelings, telling yourself that you are over reacting or that what you need doesn't matter?
At some point, you felt stifled from expressing your voice in the world, Maybe you were told you were too sensitive, you asked too many questions (and were made to be wrong for them), or you were judged harshly for communicating openly and felt the pains of rejection and fear of being cast out from a relationship, a tribe or a community. Perhaps you were taught to sacrifice yourself so everyone else could receive what they needed, leading you to believe, that your needs are less important than others.
Instead of standing in your power and communicating your truth with ease, you mind plays over and over what you should say, how to say it and possible scenarios. You withdraw from the conversation unsure of what to say so you shut down and shrink while stuffing down your real feelings pretending that everything is okay. When open honest and vulnerable communication doesn't happen, relationships break down. Heart wounds, confusion and anger fester building resentment and unhealthy relationships where you feel unheard, invisible, taken advantage of and unimportant.
For generations, society has been taught that it's not okay to ask for what you need, to openly share thoughts and feelings or to fully express who you are in the world. This makes it extremely difficult for women to voice her needs, communicate her truth with honesty and love or to feel heard.
It's time to know without a doubt that your voice matters. You no longer need to continue to feel invisible, unheard or unimportant. It's time to break through the fear of rejection, and begin honoring yourself.
One of the number one reasons people stop themselves from speaking their truth is fear.
Fear another's feelings will be hurt. Fear of rejection, not belong or being loved and accepted. Fear they will say something wrong, be misunderstood or that no one will hear them anyway. Fear they won't be respected or received in what they are asking. So they suffer in silence, secretly wishing they had the strength to voice their truth.
Your voice matters. It's not okay for you to continue to shrink and hide your voice in the world anymore. It's time to break free from the fear and the conditions to communicate your truth.
Begin speaking your truth with these simple steps.
Building upon these simple steps allows you to communicate your truth in the world, build healthy relationships and feel much more calm within.

Every once in a while there is a song that catches my attention because of the core truth it holds within the words. The lyrics for "Last Time for Everything" by Brad Paisely sparked a fire within reminding me of the importance to be present, in full acceptance and filled with gratitude for what is right now.
You see, I believe in fully living your life... consciously. That means being fully grounded, present and aware of the choices you are making that are creating your life and embracing every moment unconditionally. (By every moment I mean the good, the bad, the ugly, the mistakes...all of it as messy or as fabulous as it is.) When you live with curiosity and presence you embody appreciation for exactly what is showing up around you. With the understanding that nothing is forever, everything is always changing you have the ability to become aware of the gift that each situation, person, place has and then you have the ability to CHOOSE how you experience it. Even the messy stuff. Because nothing lasts forever. Whether we love it, hate it or are unsure about it, there is a last time for everything.
As a society, most people are so intensely focused in what needs to be fixed, what's missing, what they don't have and where they "should" be instead of where they actually ARE that they lose sight of what is and the gift it has to offer. People get swallowed up in the fear of not having or being enough so they strive to get somewhere, cling to what was or what "should" be, but miss out on enjoying the experience of living. When you are always focused on the future or the past, you're unable to fully appreciate the present and live from this space of consciousness and awareness. You miss out on the gifts it has to offer in each moment.
Have you watched the movie Click with Adam Sandler? His character wasted all his energy on overworking to get the promotion he desperately wanted eventually losing sight of what was important to him. When he was given the gift to fast forward through the parts of his life that were uncomfortable to get to the goal; the one thing he thought would solve all his problems; he actually ended up missing out on life. Never fully enjoying what was in front of him or appreciating the gift that it was.
When we approach life as if it will be the last time we will ever experience a situation, a person, a place suddenly every single thing is beautiful. It is all in Divine Order. There is no wrongness. It is all in perfect alignment.
Let me ask you, if you walked into the job you hate knowing it would be the last time you were ever there would you view it differently? What if the kiss you gave your lover that morning was the last one? Would you pause and fully appreciate the softness of their lips and that gentle smile they give you as they turn to leave or would you continue to rush through as if it will always be there. What if you knew the person you are frustrated with suddenly was no longer going to be there, would you offer forgiveness and compassion and recognize how they contributed to your life?
Truly, there is a last time for everything. Just as the song states, "Last call, last chance. Last song, last dance. Sometimes you just don't know when that's gonna be." In order to fully live our life we must recognize that and move into a state of presence. This creates full appreciation for what is currently showing up and allows you to begin to see the beautiful master design it is.
